Gwent Indoor Championships
Once again the club hosted the Gwent Indoor Championships at Beachley on Sunday 6th November. The day was very successful with the club achieving 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Gwent Gents Compound Unlimited category. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day.
Change of Mid Week Venue
After about 10 years of shooting at Mounton House we have now finished there for good. Starting next year (11th January) we will be shooting on Wednesday nights at the former RAF Caerwent gym. This will be from 7.00 pm as usual.
For those of you with Internet Access, using Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/) to search for ‘Caerwent’ should show Dinham Road above the A48. The gym is in Lawrence Crescent which is either of the first two turnings on the right.
Otherwise ….
Directions from Mounton House (heading away from Chepstow). Follow the A48 to the Parkwall Roundabout. Go Straight over the Roundabout and continue through Crick (past the Archery Shop). At the end of the duel carriageway continue past the Speed Camera markings on the road and look for the next turning on the right into Dinham Road.
Junior Members
Due to guidelines being issued by the Grand National Archery Association (GNAS) regarding Child Protection the Club has had to review how Junior Archers are catered
for within the club. Please read the attached letter from the Chairman and Child Protection Officer which contains important information regarding Junior Archers being allowed to shoot at the club.
Postal League
We have several compound teams and a recurve team entered in the Postal league competition but we are struggling to get enough scores to enter for them. It would be good if we could get a few more people shooting rounds and scoring on club nights. This should be made easier by our new mid week venue which should be large enough to shoot a round in so we will no longer be limited to only shooting a round on Saturday night.
Next Year
Shooting has now finished for the year. We will be starting again at Beachley on Saturday the 7th January and at the new Caerwent venue on the 11th January.
Also, in the New Year, the club is thinking about putting on some presentations / workshops on setting up and maintenance of Archery equipment. If anyone is interested in this, please let John Grout know.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everybody.
